The Nassau County 4-H Council recently made progress with its "Operation Beautification Community Pride Project" when members dedicated an entire Saturday morning at the Hilliard branch library, giving flower beds a much-needed weeding and planting small plants in the beds.

Nassau County Youth Development Agent I Amanda Thien said that after the council finished its duties at the Hilliard library, it went to the Nassau County Extension Office, adjacent to the North Florida Fairgrounds north of Callahan, where it finally completed the planting and mulching of a "Scenic Garden."

For the past couple of months, the council has been progressing on planting a "Scenic Garden" in front of the Extension Office. Now that it is complete and mulch has been laid, everyone driving north on US 1 will have the opportunity to view it.

The council would like to thank Ace Hardware, Brockwood Nursery and Gore's Nursery for making donations toward the Operation Beautification Community Pride Project.

An initial grant for the project was also given to the council by the Chevron Oil Co.
